St. Agnes, was known for her beauty and caught the attention of many men but her only love was Jesus. Around the age of 13, a Roman prefect that was so upset by her refusal of him turned her in for being Christian... a charge punishable by death at that time. Agnes was stripped naked and dragged through the streets to a brothel. Refusing to sin, Agnes prayed that God would preserve her from sin. As she prayed, her hair grew at a miraculous rate and covered her nakedness. (picture Rapunzel) every man that tried forcing himself on her was struck blind and the Roman prefect dropped dead. However Agnes prayed over his body and he miraculously came back to life.
Convicted for her Christianity, Agnes was led out of her cell and bound to a stake to be burned alive. When the guard went to light the wood, however, it would not burn. When it finally caught fire, the flames parted way around her preserving her from harm. She was eventually beheaded.
